Module 5, Lesson 1: The Build Pre-reqs

What do you need before you start building an app with AI? Confirm four things first: a landing page that has validated real interest, a YouTrack board scoped into phases, Claude Desktop updated with the Design tab, and your Module 2 spec docs within reach.

What do you need before you start building an app with AI?

Before building, you need validated demand and a clean setup: a live landing page that has cleared a signup threshold you set for yourself, a project board broken into phases, an updated Claude Desktop with the Design tab, and your scoping documents (GTM, market research, technical spec, and UX/UI) close at hand.

The landing page exists to prove real interest before you invest weeks in code, so if you are not near your number yet, that is a signal to pause rather than push forward. This prerequisite checkpoint confirms every piece from the earlier modules is genuinely in place, not just assumed to be.

Before We Start

From previous lessons:

  • Your landing page is live and collecting emails. Module 4, Lesson 1
  • Your mailing list is connected and tagging signups by source. Module 4, Lesson 2
  • Your Meta ad is live and driving traffic to the landing page. Module 4, Lessons 7 to 8
  • Your project board is set up in YouTrack with phases scoped out. Module 3, Lessons 6 to 9
  • Claude Code is installed and connected to your project. Module 3, Lesson 3
  • WebStorm is set up and bootstrapped for the project. Module 3, Lesson 1

Tools / setup you'll need:

  • Claude Desktop (the desktop app, not the mobile app). Updated to the latest version
  • WebStorm, already bootstrapped
  • Your Obsidian vault with all the documents Claude generated back in Module 2

By the end of this lesson, you'll:

  • Have confirmed you're actually ready to start building. Not just assumed it
  • Know exactly which Claude Desktop tabs you need before Phase 1 starts
  • Have your GTM, market research, summary, technical, and UX/UI docs within easy reach for the build phase ahead
